We are heading towards the end of 2022, here we offer you a selection of Kiwa news, which by no means covers everything we did, but hopefully gives you a nice overview of some of the highlights of the past Kiwa year.

Kiwa announced as finalist for the Hydrogen Awards 2023

Recently Kiwa has been announced as a finalist for the Hydrogen Awards of 2023, where businesses are highlighted for their contribution to the hydrogen industry. The commissioning of our new hydrogen production plant has played a major role in the nomination.

IECEE appoints Kiwa for the IEC 62443: Cyber security for Industrial Automation and Control Systems

The IEC System of Conformity Assessment Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components (IECEE) recently appointed Kiwa to carry out assessments and certifications in the context of the series of standards IEC 62443.

GAR update: withdrawal of EN 30-1-1:2008+A3:2003, EN 613:2000 and several EN 203 standards

The EU essential requirements for the safety, health and environmental aspects of gas-fired appliances are laid down in the Gas Appliance Regulation (GAR). In the coming years a number of GAR-related quality standards will be withdrawn and replaced by updated versions. 

Kiwa helps Portugal convert to 100% H2

This autumn Kiwa has started two new projects in Portugal for two Portuguese gas district system operators: H2REN for REN Portgás and Retrofit for Floene. In commission of these two operators, Kiwa will assess the suitability of their gas distribution networks for hydrogen. 

Kiwa issues first KiwaGreen certificate to Hundhausen Kunststofftechnik

Kiwa has issued the first KiwaGreen certificate and the Covenant Cable Protection Pipe of recycled polyethylene to Hundhausen Kunststofftechnik in Germany. The certification shows that the company is working towards becoming energy or climate neutral in the future and contributing to a more sustainable world through its products.

UKCA - Latest Update

On 14 November 2022 the UK Government announced some further changes to the UKCA deadlines which were originally amended on 20 June 2022. Read more about the updates here.

Publication: Technical considerations when testing hydrogen valves with air

When transporting hydrogen gas through existing gas pipelines, the safety level should be at least the same as for transporting natural gas. Materials expert Ernst van der Stok describes technical considerations explaining why air can safely be used to test the leak tightness of mechanical fittings and valves.

Kiwa sponsor Forze Hydrogen Racing

In the coming year, Kiwa will sponsor Forze Hydrogen Racing, a Dutch student team that specializes in racing on hydrogen. Kiwa not only supports Forze financially, but also contributes in the form of advice and validation of hydrogen systems.

FITcert European quality label for fitness clubs enters next level

EuropeActive, the European trade association for fitness clubs, has officially started with FITcert, an independent European quality label that enables fitness clubs to demonstrate they meet high standards when it comes to service, hygiene and safety. Kiwa is one of the certifying institutions for FITcert.

Kiwa present at MEDICA 2022– The World Forum for Medicine

Kiwa’s experts await you at MEDICA exhibition, one of the most important medical trade fairs in Europe. The event will be held in Düsseldorf from November 14 to 17.

ISO 27001 standard for information security revised

The revised ISO 27001 standard for information security has been published on 25 October 2022. The updated standard has been aligned with ISO 27002:2022 and includes some technical corrections.
