A Strategic Leap with Kiwa Group
Since joining the Netherlands-based Kiwa Group—an internationally renowned TIC (Testing, Inspection, Certification) company—in 2022, Kiwa ExTEL has rapidly expanded both its technical capacity and market reach. The company has firmly established itself in solar and energy storage, offering comprehensive solutions and maintaining a leadership position in the region.
A Modern Brand for a Global Market
The new Kiwa ExTEL brand embraces a sleek visual identity with a blue, white, and red color scheme, symbolizing innovation, professionalism, and internationalization. This transition not only enhances its visual presence but also reflects the company’s new strategic positioning within the global energy market. With over 2GW of solar power plant inspection experience, Kiwa ExTEL now operates across Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
General Manager Fred Chen, noted that the partnership with Kiwa has enabled deeper collaboration with global experts like Kiwa PI Berlin and Kiwa PVEL. This has expanded Kiwa ExTEL’s capabilities in module factory audits, production monitoring, commissioning (SAT), periodic inspection (HC), and secondary market assessments (TDD), offering clients a robust one-stop technical service.
DAS 2.0: The Smart O&M Solution
At this year’s expo, Kiwa ExTEL showcased its flagship DAS 2.0 Soiling Monitoring System. Installed in over 200 sites in Taiwan and now entering markets in the Philippines and China, the DAS 2.0 accurately detects soiling levels on PV modules, helping plant owners optimize cleaning schedules, save water, and increase energy yield. This solution is especially well-suited for the dust-prone southern regions of Taiwan.
DAS 2.0 features a user-friendly web-based platform that allows operators to remotely monitor site cleanliness in real time, significantly improving O&M efficiency. Its growing international adoption demonstrates strong recognition of the system’s value.
Third-Party Advisory Services: Maximizing Returns, Minimizing Risk
Kiwa ExTEL’s suite of third-party advisory services—ranging from commissioning (SAT) and health checks (HC) to technical due diligence (TDD) for secondary market transactions—has become integral to the solar project lifecycle. These services enable accurate risk identification and maintenance planning to ensure safety and long-term performance.
Through its connection to the Kiwa network, Kiwa ExTEL now also offers LTA (Lenders’ Technical Advisory) services, delivering comprehensive due diligence for banks and investors. These include design review, technical consulting, EPC contract review, yield simulations, drone inspections, and construction supervision—empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions with minimized investment risk.
Mr. Chen emphasized the strength of Kiwa ExTEL’s expert field teams, who can deliver tailored inspections to meet client needs. In post-disaster situations, for example, the company’s IDA (incident damage assessment) service quickly dispatches engineers for on-site evaluation and accurate reporting to support insurance claims and recovery planning.
Digital Site Portfolios: Centralized Asset Management
To support long-term client success, Kiwa ExTEL launched a new cloud-based client portal this year. The platform allows clients to access past inspection reports, consolidate project data, and better understand site performance. For clients planning to sell PV assets, Kiwa ExTEL’s verified reports add value and help attract potential buyers.
Building Knowledge: Training Green Programs for Clients
Beyond technical services, Kiwa ExTEL is committed to educating clients through customized training programs. Offering both classroom and on-site learning, the courses equip corporate staff with foundational PV system knowledge and the latest trends in green energy—enhancing internal capabilities and promoting sustainability awareness.
Expanding in Southeast Asia
As the Philippines ramps up solar adoption—with a cumulative installed capacity of 1.4GW as of the end of 2023—Kiwa ExTEL is expanding its presence in the region. Its localized services, such as WiS (module power measurement) and OPC (pyranometer calibration), eliminate the need for lab-based testing, saving clients time and cost.
Due to stable long-term partnerships in the Philippines, Kiwa ExTEL is planning to establish a local office to better serve the market with advanced technologies and localized technical support.
