Kiwa has been accredited by the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA) to carry out assessments in accordance with the new European Drinking Water Directive (EU) 2020/2184. Kiwa is the second European conformity assessment body to take this important first step towards formal notification through accreditation by a national authority. This accreditation already enables Kiwa to assess materials and products that come into contact with drinking water according to the new European hygiene requirements.

Cyberattacks are becoming more advanced, but the most vulnerable link often stays the same: people. That is why Kiwa provides training that makes organizations aware of digital and physical risks and shows employees the role they themselves play in cybersecurity. ISO 9001, the world’s most widely used management system standard, is being revised. The new edition, ISO 9001:2026, is expected to be published in the first half of 2026. The revision focuses on clarifying and updating existing requirements.

Kiwa, DVGW CERT and figawa will officially launch their Fit4DW materials database during the ISH trade fair, from 17 to 21 March in Frankfurt am Main. This innovative platform helps manufacturers, certification bodies and testing laboratories streamline the certification process for drinking water materials and comply with the European Drinking Water Directive (EU 2020/2184).

Certification is a demanding process that requires both careful planning and reliable technology. To optimize this process, Kiwa is partnering with Belgian company Televic Education, integrating Televic’s digital exam platform, assessmentQ, with Kiwa’s extensive certification expertise.

At Kiwa, we have extensive experience providing GLOBALG.A.P. IFA – Integrated Farm Assurance certification. Amongst others, we offer certification for IFA v6-Smart and IFA v6-GFS standards. Starting in January 2025, both versions will be valid in parallel. While meeting the standard owner’s requirements may present challenges for producers, achieving certification through Kiwa opens doors to expanded markets for vegetables and fruits across Europe and beyond.

As of January 6, 2025, Wim van Loon will be appointed Managing Director of Kiwa Nederland. Kiwa operates globally in the TIC sector (Testing, Inspection, and Certification), with Kiwa Nederland being one of the group’s largest entities. Van Loon (58) has held senior leadership roles throughout his career in the TIC industry. In his new role, Wim Van Loon will report directly to Nicolas Kyndt, COO EMEA and member of Kiwa's Management Board.

Kiwa has extended its successful collaboration with the Royal Dutch Rowing Federation (KNRB) for another two years. Since 1992, Kiwa has supported the Dutch rowing team, and the Kiwa logo will continue to feature prominently on the boats of TeamNL Rowing as they prepare for the 2026 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam.
