BRL K17105 declared binding
A revised version of BRL K17105 for the Kiwa product certificate for “Plastics piping systems of polyethylene for the transport of drinking water and raw water” has been declared binding as of 17 June 2025.
The following important parts of the BRL have been changed:
- PE100-RC compounds are added: enhanced resistance to slow crack growth. Therefore new compound and product requirements for PE100-RC products do apply.
- Additional requirements apply for the compound of the stripes of the pipes (§5.2 of EN 12201-2);
- Test requirements for oxygen induction time (OIT) for pipes and fittings has changed with regard to time and temperature (table 5 of EN 12201-2 and table 7 of EN 12201-3);
- Test requirement for melt flow rate (MFR) for PE40 pipes is changed with regard to the weight used (table 5 of EN 12201-2);
- Circumferential reversion test for pipes > 250mm is added (§9.3 of EN 12201-2);
- The test method for impact resistance of electrofusion saddles (tapping tees) is changed with regard to temperature and weights (table 4 of EN 12201-3).
The certificates issued on BRL K17105 version 2017 will lose their validity on 17-06-2026.
The certificate holders will be informed about this transition period.
