Kiwa FSS Certification expands accreditation with Scope E of BRL K21045 Fire Protection Systems

Kiwa is proud to announce that the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA) has officially accredited us for scope E - Aerosol Systems within the international TIC scheme K21045 Fire Protection Systems.

This unique BRL focuses on the testing, inspection, and certification of fixed fire protection systems and covers the entire chain, from manufacturers and installers to maintenance companies and end users, both nationally and internationally.

Kiwa’s certification schemes K23001 Fixed Dry Aerosol Fire Extinguishing Components and K23003 Fire Suppression Systems Based on Dry Aerosol have been accredited for years. With the introduction of the international TIC scheme BRL K21045, the desire arose to integrate these schemes into a single, standardized and globally applicable framework. This transition enables stakeholders to offer products and services internationally with demonstrable quality assurance under one comprehensive scheme.

Successful accreditation expansion by the RvA

The accreditation expansion was conducted in accordance with the requirements of EN ISO/IEC 17065:2012. Kiwa Netherlands, operating under the name Kiwa FSS Certification, is registered with the RvA under number C002. With this expansion, we are now accredited to offer certification for Scope E - Aerosol Systems, in addition to the already accredited Scopes A (Water Mist) and C (Gaseous Suppression Systems).

Wouter van Beers, scheme manager, proudly states:

'Transferring schemes K23001 and K23003 to the international BRL K21045 Fire Protection Systems represents a major step forward in the market. Achieving accreditation for this scope is the icing on the cake after all the hard work and dedication from our team.'

The schemes K23001 and K23003 will continue to exist and be accredited for the time being. Once all current certifications and activities have been transitioned to BRL K21045, both legacy schemes will be withdrawn.

The K21045 Fire Protection Systems is the assessment scheme for testing, inspection and certification (TIC) of fixed fire protection systems. This scheme therefore focuses primarily on manufacturers, installers and maintenance companies and offers these parties the opportunity to deliver products and services with verifiably a high degree of quality assurance within the wide range of fixed fire protection systems. But end users also have an interest in a conclusive quality chain. The objective of this TIC scheme K21045 is to improve safety and security through uniform application of the relevant international standards relating to fire protection systems.
